1. Arthur “Tripp” Anderson was born Jan. 21, 1948, in Lawrence. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1966, and from Kansas University with a bachelor of arts in English education and later an M.A. in classics in 1971. He graduated from the Kansas University School of Law in 1986. He taught school in Paola and at Kapaun High School in Wichita. He then became a corporate and tax attorney, and worked in the 1040 New Hampshire Old English Lutheran Church law offices, which he helped his family to preserve and manage. He was involved in setting up the Laura Kriz and Libuse Fiorito Charitable Foundations, which eventually funded the renovation and now manages the Castle Tea Room in Lawrence. He was also instrumental in the formation of several other local trusts and foundations. He was a frequent adviser to the Lawrence Preservation Alliance, served on the Horizon 2020 Lawrence City Planning Committee, and was involved in preserving the Union Pacific Depot.
He was an Eagle Scout and an active member of the Boy Scouts of America in Lawrence, serving as a Cubmaster of Pack 3053, a Camp Bromelsick Foundation Committee board member, and a former Unit Commissioner for Troop 59 and Pack 3053. He was a member at large for Pelathe District Committee, and held the Scouter’s Key, Commissioner’s Arrowhead Honor and the District Award of Merit. He was a member of the Kansas and Douglas County Bar Associations.

2. Clinton “Ace” Daniels was born in Iola Kansas on May 25, 1928. He graduated highschool in Iola. His father was a Scoutmaster for over 45 years. Ace was a Scoutmaster for Troop 60 from 1953 until 1972 then from 1972 to 1985 he served the Troop in several positions including Assistant Scoutmaster, Committee Chairman, Advancement Chairman and Scoutmaster. He led expeditions to Philmont in 1959 and Charles Summer Canoe Base in 1961. He served in several leadership positions in the Pelathe District. He died Febuary 7, 2016.

4. Edward Bishop was born June 10, 1920, in Topeka. He was a 1938 graduate of Liberty Memorial High School and attended Kansas University. Mr. Bishop was a printer/binder foreman by trade, 36 years at KU printing service, five years at Miller Printshop and four years at Allen Press. He was an assistant scoutmaster for Troop 60 from 1953-1996 He was a Vigil member of Order of the Arrow. He was also involved in Girl Scouts and 4-H for about 40 years. He died June 8, 2010.

6.Dan PalmquistDan Palmquist was in the drama department at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas when he went down to Centron Films in Lawrence to play the parts of George Johnson and Bill Johnson in two films: "Speech: The Function of Gestures" and "A Day of Thanksgiving". By 1955, Dan was head of the Centron editing department and also directed quite a few science and safety films for the company. He was with Centron until a heart attack took him in the early 1980s.

7. Laurie Magee was born May 11, 1955, in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1976. She was a licensed registered nurse. She had worked as a medical ICU nurse at St. Francis Hospital and she also worked at several clinics. She was Committee member of Pack 3057 chartered to the St. John’s Catholic Church. She was a member Troop 53. She also volunteered at the church and Bishop Seabury Academy. She was a member of the Kansas State Nurses Association and a Certified Master Gardener.

13. Bill Whitehead was born July 28, 1921 in Ft. Riley, Kansas. He attended Topeka High School. He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corp. He was discharged in 1945 with the rank of Sergeant. He received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star during his service. He worked for Farmland Industries as a shift supervisor for 30 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason a member of the Lawrence Masonic Lodge #6; a member of the VFW, DAV and the 86th Division. He was on the District Commissioners Staff and worked for many years in the Kaw later to become the Pelathe District. He died February 10, 2009

14. Schuyler Baileywas born January 30, 1960. He was know throughout the District for helping with Training and District Camping events. He Trained many Troop leaders on Wilderness First Aid. A requirement for High Adventure! Folks in Troop 59 can add to his Tribe of the Mic O Say Rank! I believe he had White Paint! He was with Troop 59 and started the Housing Authority Pack. He died April 27, 2020.

15. Bruce Wagner

16. Don Meyer was born Aug. 23, 1957. He graduated from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota in 1979. Don was a former cubmaster of Pack 3059, a scoutmaster of Troop 55 and an adviser of Explorer Post 2055.

18. George McCleary was born April 9, 1937, in Springfield, Ohio. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1955 and then attended Yale University on a Naval ROTC Scholarship. He graduated from Yale with a bachelor's degree in geography in the spring of 1959 and was commissioned as an ensign in the Navy. After leaving the Navy, he earned his master's degree and his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He taught at Clark University in Worcester, Mass., before becoming an associate professor at the University of Kansas, where he worked for more than 35 years. George was involved for several years with the Boy Scouts of America, including planning camping trips and organizing pine wood derbies. He died June 26, 2022.

19. Howard (K.C.) G. Jones was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Tonganoxie. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Linwood, and a member of the Linwood Lions Club and the Linwood Masonic Lodge AF&AM No. 241. He was a member of Troop 357 . He very active in the Pelathe District serving in several capacities. He died Dec. 20, 2010.

23. Arden Burgess was born February 10, 1926 in Lawrence the son of Edwin T. and Helen E. Rohrer Burgess. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of the West Side Presbyterian Church. A member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 55 and was a charter organization representative for the Boy Scouts. He was a Typesetter and camera operator for the Lawrence Journal World in Lawrence until he retired in 1997. He died October 3, 2014

24. Harrison Traul was born Oct. 13, 1920, in Parker, Kansas. He retired from the City of Lawrence Utility Department in 1989. Harrison was a past member of I.O.O.F., member and Past Master of Acacia Lodge No. 9 AF&AM, member and Past Venerable Master of Scottish Rite Bodies of Lawrence, member and Past Commander of Knights Templar-York Rite Bodies of Lawrence, member and Past Worthy Patron of Adah Chapter No. 7 Order of the Eastern Star, and Past Watchman of the Shepherds-Fidelity White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 11.
He was also involved with Troop No. 53 . He received the Honorary Warrior Award in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, held the Vigil honor in the Order of the Arrow and received the Silver Beaver Award for his volunteer work.

25. Bennie Stewart was born May 27, 1921, in Hutchinson. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of the 805 Bomb Group. Bennie served in Europe and received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service.
He received his bachelor’s degree in education from Kansas State University and later his master’s degree in education from Kansas State University in 1953. He was a retired English teacher and driver’s education instructor in USD 497 in Lawrence. He started his teaching career in Ashland in 1950. In Lawrence he began at Central Junior High School and retired at Lawrence High School in 1983.
Bennie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lawrence, Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion, the Douglas County Retired Teachers Association and he worked with the 55 Alive Driving Education Program for senior citizens. He was also a Boy Scout Cubmaster and Scoutmaster and had received the Award of Merit from the BSA. He was also a 25-year volunteer for the Kansas Relays. He died Friday, May 20, 2011

26.Raymond Nichols was KU’s 12th chancellor. He served as chancellor from 1972 to 1973. Raymond Nichols Hall, KU's Space Technology Center, was named for Nichols in recognition of his promotion of significant research, educational and service activities at KU. He worked for 44 years at KU, retiring in 1973. Nichols served as chancellor from 1972 to 1973, between chancellors E. Laurence Chalmers and Archie R. Dykes. Raymond Nichols Hall, KU's Space Technology Center, was named for Nichols in recognition of his promotion of significant research, educational and service activities at KU. It was dedicated in May 1976. Nichols earned a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1926 and a master's in journalism in 1928, both from KU. As a student, he was named to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and he was editor of the University Daily Kansan, the student newspaper, and the Jayhawker, the university yearbook. He also reported for the Larned Tiller and Toiler and Kansas City Kansan newspapers.
In 1929, Nichols joined the KU staff as executive secretary to the chancellor, where he served until 1938. From 1938 to 1972, he worked as executive secretary to the university. In 1962, he became the university's first vice chancellor for finance, serving through 1969. In 1969, he received KU's Distinguished Service Citation, and, in 1977, he received the Fred Ellsworth Medallion, the KU Alumni Association's highest award for service to the university. Nichols was very active in Boy Scouts. He served as the Bromelsick Committee Chairman for many years including when the 160 acre tract of land was purchased know known as Camp Bromelsick. He died on Oct. 12, 1999 at the age of 95.

28.Everett and Martha Lathrom: This dynamic husband and wife team contributed to Scouting in Pelathe District through both Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting. Both Everett and Martha served as den leaders and pack leaders at Pinckney School. After their sons moved into the Boy Scout program, Martha for many years continued to serve as the Cub Scout training leader for the district. She also served many years on the troop committee with Troop 59 at First Presbyterian Church. Everett became an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 59, helping with program, summer camp, and numerous high adventure trips to Philmont and Sommers Canoe Base. He was a Cub Master, Assistant Scout Master, Commissioner, Day Camp Coordinator, and volunteer for Scouting for Food. He received numerous awards including Award of Merit, Silver Beaver, George Meany Award, Wood Badge trained and was Sachem in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and Brotherhood in Order of the Arrow. Both Martha and Everett have received the District Award of Merit and both have received the Silver Beaver. Everett died Febuary 7, 2024.

31 Allen Wiechert Allen was born October 25, 1938. He died October 29, 2019. In 1962 Allen graduated from Kansas State University with a B.A. in Architecture. In 1968 he came to the Unversity of Kansas where he eventually became the University Architect, retiring in 1995. Allen served under chancellors Wescoe, Chalmers, Dykes, and Budig. As such he oversaw the design, remodeling, adaptive reuse, construction and ADA accessibility of well over 100 buildings on the campuses of KU, the KU Medical Centers in Kansas City, Wichita, and Salina, and the Regents Center in Overland Park. Allen became an Eagle Scout as a boy in Independence, Kansas and never left Scouting. He served Troop 59 as the Advancement Chair for several years before becoming Advancement Chair for Pelathe District, a position he held for about twelve years. During those years, he helped guide several hundred local Boy Scouts to their Eagle Scout Award. Allen started the tradition of an annual Eagle Scout Dinner to recognize those young men who each year attained the rank of Eagle. Allen also served Pelathe District as the coordinator for the National Eagle Scout Association. Allen was recognized with the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver and was Wood Badge trained. He served as Chairperson for the Camp Bromelsick Foundation Inc for serveral years.

33. Edwin Burgess Edwin Burgers was born January 24, 1893. He was a long time scouter and educator. He organized Troop 55 and then served as its leader for more than 60 years. The Burgess Scout Cabin near the West Side Presbyterian Church was named in his honor. He taught industrial arts at Central Junior Highs School for 40 years. The Lawrence City Commission declared May 4, 1977 as Edwin T Burgess Day to recognize his dedication to Scouts. The Pelathe District gave him a 50 year certificate. He was awarded the National Eagle Scouts associations Scout Master of the year on December 21, 1977. He died at the age of 94.

34. Richard Branham served as Cubmaster of Pack 3370 at Deerfield School for several years in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Concurrently, he became Scoutsmaster of Troop 59 at the First Presbyterian Church in 1980, serving until 1985. He helped build Troop 59 into one of the largest and most active troops in Lawrence, placing a strong emphasis on a boy-led troop. Richard was a strong supporter of high adventure programs, leading several treks to Philmont Scout Ranch. He also served on training teams teaching Scoutmaster Fundamentals and as an instructor on Wood Badge troops. Richard served many years as a unit commissioner and several years as District Commissioner. Richard has been awarded both the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver

35. Joe King Joe was born on August 24, 1947 in Potwin, Kansas. Joe attended Potwin schools and graduated from Frederick Remington High. He earned Robert Mann and AIA scholarships to attend Kansas University (KU) School of Architecture, general KU Funds and a Navy ROTC scholarship. He earned the Goldsmith Award, Davis Award, A.I.A. Certificate of Merit, Alpha Rho Chi Medal, and Reserve Officer's Association Medal during his college career, was a member of Honor Societies,Tau Sigma Delta, and Tau Beta Ri, Scarab, and social fraternity Alpha Tau Omega. His summers were occupied with midshipman training programs, work for Mann & Co, Hutchinson, Lawrence Construction Co, Kansas State Historical Society, and he worked for Architectural Services at KU during the school year. He graduated second in his 1970 BA Architecture class. Joe had a life-long love of the outdoors and the natural world. He was a "Wood Badge" member of Boy Scout Troop 59 and Venture Crew 2052, and a district committee and training team member. Joe served on the Camp Bromelsick Board of Directors and the Board of Directors of the Kansas Natural Resource Council. He was an active member of the League of Women Voters. 36. 37. Dwight Burnham. Dwight was born in West Warwick Rhode Island in 1917. He was an Eagle Scout. He graduted the School of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1947. He cam to Lawrence in 1947. He joined the KU faculty and tought drawing and painting. He was a scoutmaster for five years with Troop 56 (now defunct) He servered for many years on the Pelathe District Committee where he helped organise hunderds of events the majority occuring at Camp Bromelsick.

39.Dan Affalter Dan was born on September 10, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1972. Dan Affalter began his career as a Police Officer with the Lawrence Police Department on March 21, 1976. Throughout his 33 years of service, Dan served the department as a supervisor in every division, a tribute to his versatility and dedication. Dan served as a member and commander of a specialty team; was promoted to Sergeant in December 1984; to Lieutenant in August, 1991; and to Captain in September, 2004. Upon his retirement from the Lawrence Police Department in December, 2008, he was presented with the Honorable Service Medal for his unquestioned commitment to the public, the City of Lawrence, and the Police Department. Dan received the department’s Meritorious Service Award in December, 2006, for his years of service and for perhaps most notably, his leadership in the Investigations Division where he faithfully honored the pledge, “Not on my watch!” He was a Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 55, Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation, Headquarters Counseling Center, He worked for three-plus decades in Hunter Education’s Safety Programs.



40.David Takao Ozaki David was born in Lincoln, Neb. October 20, 1969 In addition to his family, Scouting was David's passion. He earned his Eagle Scout with Troop 35 in Lincoln, and as an adult worked to make sure his own children – and many others – gained what he had through Scouts. He led his own sons' Cub Scout pack, was assistant adviser for his oldest daughter's Venture Crew and served as Scoutmaster of Troop 60. He was district commissioner for Pelathe District, served on numerous district committees, earned a number of Scouting awards and trained many other scout leaders. For years he served as camp commissioner for Camp Naish's Bear Camp near Bonner Springs. He also coached his children's basketball, baseball and softball teams.
